"CREdit - The Programmer's Text Editor

Everybody has his favorite text editor. My preferred one happens to be the editor included in the MS Visual C++ IDE. But it has several drawbacks. It is a part of a huge programming environment which has to be loaded every time you want to use the editor. It is overloaded with many features I'm not using in my everyday work, and lacks others which I need. And it is payware.

So I've decided to write my own editor. It had to allow easy work with command-line tools (like compilers and linkers), to support syntax colorization for user-definable languages (like assemblers for proprietary ASICs), and to be easy to use (fully configurable and with scripting support). About that time I found on Internet the excellent Crystal Edit class (written by Andrei Stcherbatchenko), which I decided to use as base for my own editor."
