Honeywell is primarily known as a maker of industrial control systems, but in the 1970's they produced a computer line which they had acquired from General Electric Corporation. GE machines ran an operating system called GECOS (General Electric Comprehensive Operating System). After the acquisition, Honeywell renamed it GCOS. The machines were manufactured by Compagnie Honeywell-Bull in France

Honeywell machines are still sold and supported by Groupe Bull. In addition, NEC in Japan got a license, and produces compatible machines with a variant of the OS they call ACOS.
