TextEditor

TextEditors are tools used by programmers and other technically oriented folks to work with text files as streams of bytes or lines. Generally speaking, there are no characters, codes, formatting or anything else that is "invisible" to the text editor.

This is in complete contrast to a WordProcessor, which makes the editing of documents easier.

When you think Files, think TextEditors. When you think Documents, think WordProcessors.

The big problem with using WordProcessors instead of TextEditors is that WordProcessors store all kinds of extra information in files that you don't see BUT other programs such as computer language compilers and scripting tools will see. Which will cause big problems.

There are lots of free TextEditors which means you'll have no problem.
