Xed is a programmer's text editor for use on *nix computers with the X Window System, using only Xlib. It is designed to be small, fast, simple to use, and customizable. It is not intended to replace word processors or desktop publishing systems; rather it provides a rudimentary tool for programmers and system administrators. Xed is distributed freely, with all source and executable code.

This editor was written beginning in the early 1990's. I have been using it every day since then, but I do not expect anybody else to ever use it.
