It is a predecessor of the famous EDT editor. I believe it originated the use of the keypad in the manner now famous in EDT.

It is the standard editor on DEC RT-11 operating system.

I believe KED was replaced on either Vax/VMS or RSTS-E or RSX-11m+

On the VAX, RSTS-E, and RSX-11m+ boxes I once worked on, EDT was supplied, with TECO also available. I don't recall KED in the mix. --DMcCunney
