The Norton Editor was written by Stanley Reifel and consisted of 15000 lines of IBM Macro Assemlber (8086/8088 assembly language) code. It is dedicated to
Elizabeth Reifel for her support. Ron Jeffries and Peter Norton are credited with helping shape it. It was written on IBM PC and IBM PC XT machines (4.77 mhz 8088).

I don't think this was the exact same as the Norton Commander's editor. It was I think a separately sold commercial product.

Timelord, I believe you are correct. There was definitely a different text editor sold by Norton. I am updating the description above. Original (obsolete text is below):

It is a simple, basic editor that anybody can use in about 2 minutes.
