NotePad is an editor for smaller files than its big brother WordPad. Older versions of Notepad (Win 3.1/Win95?/Win98?) had a file size limit of 64KB. Current versions for NT/2K/XP/Vista?/Win7? remove that limit. It is useful for files consisting of simple flat text files. It is a Windows Desktop Executable and utilizes Cut-Copy-Paste operations using the Windows Clipboard.

It has spawned a whole NotepadReplacement editor family.
