The SHSU Editor is a ASCII text editor. All characters in the extended IBM character set except the nul char (code zero) and the hi-bit blank char (code 255) may be entered into the text. It should be noted that control characters may be entered into the text and written to a file, but it may not be possible to read them all back in. If the setup options are set to expand tab characters, then tab characters will be replaced with blanks when the file is read after it has been saved. Worse, however, is ctrl z. When entered, this is displayed as the right arrow. When saved and read back, however, a ctrl z is interpreted as the end of the file and the characters between the ctrl z and the real end of file will not be read.
