Emerald Editor is (being) designed to be an open-source multi-purpose, functional text editor, inspired heavily by Crimson Editor.

Crimson Editor's code was made open source by the original author. The Emerald Editor team picked it up and plans to continue development, however, they plan to recode from scratch, keeping the look and feel of Crimson and the popular features. They appear to feel their design goals are better met by recoding than refactoring. They have not released any files as yet.
