MicroEMACS was an emacs editor originally written by Dave Conroy.

The C source was picked up by Daniel Lawrence, who made signifigant changes. The Lawrence version is up to version 4.05.
JASSPA picked up the Lawrence 3.8 source and made further changes, releasing their own 4.0 version.
The Lawrence version is highly portable, and runs under MS-DOS, Windows, and various flavors of Unix, among other things. (I built it "out of the box" on an AT&T 3B1.) The JASSPA version is also available for MS-DOS, Windows, and other platforms.
02/24/09 - a preliminary release of MicroEMACS 5.0 is available, with better console handling on XP.
