The Norton Editor was written by Stanley Reifel and consisted of 15000 lines of IBM Macro Assembler (8086/8088 assembly language) code. It is dedicated to Elizabeth Reifel for her support. I don't think this was the exact same as the Norton Commander's editor. It was I think a separately sold commercial product.

Timelord, I believe you are correct. There was definitely a different text editor sold by Norton. I am updating the description above. Original (obsolete text is below):
It is a simple, basic editor that anybody can use in about 2 minutes.
