From the VMS Help file for RED:
"RED is a VT100-oriented text editor.
It divides the VT100 screen into two areas: a text window and a command area. The text window always displays a cursor and a section of the file being edited to either side of the cursor. The command area shows the command line currently being entered or executed."
RED apparently bears some resemblance to TECO.
