Honeywell is primarily known as a maker of industrial control systems, but in the 1970's they produced a computer line which they had acquired from General Electric Corporation. GE machines ran an operating system called GECOS. Honeywell renamed it GCOS. The machines were manufactured by Compagnie Honeywell-Bull in France Honeywell machines are still sold and supported by Groupe Bull. In addition, NEC in Japan got a license, and produces compatible machines with a variant of the OS they call ACOS.
