'''S'''am's '''L'''ittle '''ED'''itor '''Author:''' Sam Wilmott. '''Homepage:''' http://www.wilmott.ca/sled.html '''Platform:''' MS-DOS '''Family:''' TinyEditors MsDosEditors '''License:''' Freeware '''Screenshot:''' http://sites.google.com/site/texteditors/Home/files/sled.png * 17164 bytes (including built-in Help screen) * Customizable as to appearance and some parameters * Able to generate a customized copy of itself * File size unlimited up to available (conventional) DOS memory * Edit multiple files * Load binary files * No macros, unfortunately * (Case-sensitive) search and replace * Column insert (with fill character) and delete * Line block delete, copy, and move (no rectangular blocks) * Copy/move line blocks between files in edit ring * Execute DOS commands * Insert non-text characters * Optional autoindent * Optional word wrap (settable right margin) * Reflow paragraph * Erase to EOL * Toggle visible newlines * Sort line block in ascending order (for such a small editor!!) * Delete/duplicate whole lines * Split/join lines * Go to topofpage, bottomofpage, topoffile, bottomfile * Retain or trim trailing spaces * Edit Unix-newline files ---- It appears to come in two variants: SLED and SLHED (for hercules adapters -- How many of you folks remember the 'Herc?) (Me. --DMcCunney) runs perfectly well in a DOS window under Windows 98 (possibly also Win NT family command window, but not tested). Feature-rich for such a small executable. Contributed by Paul B. ---- Runs just fine in a VDM under WinXP Pro, and should probably run in a VDM under Win2K as well. (Haven't booted into 2K to test it.) Screen size is hard coded at 25x80. Handles absurdly long lines. I did a test years back, and finally got it to choke on a line about 116KB long. --DMcCunney
