A family of Text Editors based around concepts explored in ETH Zurich's Oberon programming environment.
Oberon Editor Family
- A A standalone implementation of the ACME text editor written in Go
- ACME (Rob Pike's environment for Plan 9)
- Acme-SAC - Open source, standalone editor/shell/user interface based on ACME
- ma - An extensible Acme workalike that expects the system to manage its windows
- help - Combination editor/shell/user interface for Bell Labs Plan 9 OS 1st Edition, and ancestor of ACME
- meep (a clone of wily written in ruby for use in a MUD
- sam (another of Rob Pike's editors)
- wily (a clone of ACME for Unix systems)
In these editors, the interaction between keyboard and mouse is streamlined. In addition, the TextEditors
themselves are very bare -- all of their functionality is provided by external programs. In many ways, this
is more Unix like than other strategies (see EmacsFamily for the opposite).
