XEmacs is a powerful TextEditor, which is similar to GnuEmacs. XEmacs began in 1991 as LucidEmacs, a fork off of GnuEmacs.

The development team includes:

The 'X' once referred to the [X Window System], but XEmacs runs just fine in text mode and on MicrosoftWindows.
