ME3 is a follow on to ME2, a previous major version.

It's a largely Gnu Emacs compatible Emacs style editor, but using a scripting language called MUTT instead of Lisp. ME3 includes a byte compiler to convert MUTT source into the tokenized form executed by the editor, similar to the way Gnu Emacs compiles .el source to .elc binaries.

Craig Durland released new versions until at least version 3.6 in 1995. The editor is small-footprint and fairly GNU-emacs compatible. Binaries are typically under 150k for the editor + 50k for the byte-compiler. Supports registers, including rectangular registers, multiple windows, dynamic search, etc.
